TK Spotlight Technique Take 2

For this months Thomas Kinkade Tutorial Kristine has taken last months Spotlight Technique Tutorial  to the next level and add color to it.

To start, stamp image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and let dry.

Use a punch or die to punch out a small shape out of the image.

Color the piece that you punched out with whatever medium you wish.
I used Spectrum Noir Markers for mine.

Back the colored panel with a slightly larger cardstock panel and then adhere it to the card matching it up with the original picture. Then create your card as usual.

The sentiment on the Make a Wish Cottage card above is from Ornamental Beauty.

I used a sentiment from Script Essential Expressions for the Light of Peace Card.

I am hoping to work on a full coloring video tutorial next month...we'll see how it goes.
You can see my past Thomas Kinkade tutorial's HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thomas Kinkade Spotlight Technique

Today Kristine has another Thomas Kinkade tutorial that requires no coloring.

This is a variation of the Spotlight Technique.

To begin I applied Memento Paris Dusk dye ink to my stamp with a brayer and then stamped it on to a light purple panel of cardstock.  I re-inked the stamp and stamped the same image on a panel of Starlight Pearl Cardstock.

Die cut a section of the image on the Pearl carstock panel.

Run the edge of the die cut image on the Paris Dusk ink pad and then adhere to oval onto the light purple panel, matching it up with the original image.

Here is my final card.

Stamps:
Thomas Kinkade's, Light of Peace from Cornish Heritage Farms
Script Essential Expressions from Cornish Heritage Farms
Paper:
Starlight Pearl Cardstock by Darice
Bazzill Purple cardstocks
Ink:
Memento Paris Dusk dye ink
Other:
Want2Scrap bling
Spellbinders oval die

I hope you are enjoying my Thomas Kinkade tutorials!

You can find all the past ones HERE.

Thomas Kinkade: Spectrum Technique Tutorial

 Hi everyone,

Today Kristine Reynolds is back with another fun way to use your Thomas Kinkade Stamps with out all the complicated coloring.  This is the Spectrum Technique.

For this technique you can use a Kaleidoscope ink pad.  The one in the picture is an old Stampin' up pad but they are available other places and are by Tsukineko.  I didn't want to use the colors in my Kaleidoscope pad so I used my colorbox pad.

You'll also need a roller for this technique.

Ink the roller up with ink.  I used the bottom four colors for my card.
then roll the ink on to the stamp.

Lay the paper panel on top of the stamp and lightly rub across the paper to transfer the image.

This is what the image looked like when I lifted it up.

I trimmed the image down and made my card.

Here's another card I made.
I inked up my roller using the top four colors on the clearsnap pad for this one.

Stamps:
Light of Peace
Make a Wish Cottage
Script Essential Expressions
Fall Harvest
Ink:
Colorbox stamps by Clearsnap
Paper:
Mohawk Smooth white
Bazzill Basic Cardstock
Other:
EK Success border punch
Spellbinders dies

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

It's that time again .... our Design Team Challenge Time!  This week our challenge is hosted by Jackie.

For our challenge this time around Jackie has challenged us to create a Fall themed Card.

Our sample this week was created by Frances, who has used Riley and Company's Mr Coffee and Pumpkin Spice Lattes Funny Bones Sentiment. (You can only see the first part of the sentiment from the front of the card. Check out Frances' blog to see the inside.)

Thomas Kinkade Scored Panel Technique

Hi everyone,

Today Kristine is back with  another tutorial to share a fun way to use your Thomas Kinkade Stamps and get results that you will LOVE!
If you haven't checked out her other Thomas Kinkade tutorial's you can check them out HERE.  In 2013, I hope to continue to bring you one TK Tutorial per month.

Today's tutorial is the Scored Panel Technique.

I started with a panel of white cardstock which I scored at one inch intervals horizontally and vertically to create a checkerboard pattern.

Then I inked up "It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This" with Color Box Olive Pastel Chalk ink and stamped it on the grid panel.  The ink was still wet when I took this picture.

After the ink dried I trimmed the image and created this card.

Here's another card I made with this technique using "The Light of Peace" and Blue Lagoon Fluid Chalk ink.

Frances posted a TK card with this technique using Guardian Castle on her blog a couple of weeks ago that you can see HERE.

I hope this helped you to see another fabulous way to use your Thomas Kinkade Stamps!

Thomas Kinkade Warm Windows Tutorial

Today Kristine Reynolds shows you another terrific way to use the Thomas Kinkade Stamps without having to color the entire image.

You can check out my last tutorial on stamping the Thomas Kinkade images in different colors HERE.

Today's tutorial will demonstrate how simply coloring the windows on the Thomas Kinkade images makes a huge difference!  I used Prisma Color Pencil for today's tutorial but you could use Copic, Spectrum, or any other coloring medium for the same look.
To begin, ink up your Stonehearth Hutch image (or any TK image) with a brayer and a juicy ink pad.
I used Adirondack Bottle dye ink by Ranger.

Lay the cardstock panel on the inked image and lightly rub across the back of the panel.

Lift the panel and allow to thoroughly dry.

I used a Lemon Yellow Prisma color pencil to color in all the lit windows.

I used an Orange pencil around the outer edges of the windows.

Then I added a little pit of Poppy Red pencil along the lower edges.

Finally, I used a cream pencil to blend and lighten the windows.
I used a couple of layers of green and white cardstock to focus attention on the image.
For the sentiment I stamped one of the images from Night Before Christmas on white cardstock with the same ink and cut it out and adhered to the card.

I hope you found this tutorial helpful.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Tutorial - Thomas Kinkade No Coloring

Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team Member Kristine Reynolds brings us the start of her tutorials on ways to use the Thomas Kinkade stamps.

The fabulous Thomas Kinkade stamps are beautiful when colored but many of you have told me that they are very intimidating and you do not feel that your coloring skills are not good enough to tackle these images.
I hope to share some step by step coloring tutorials on my blog in the next few weeks but until then you can check out the one I did for Spectrum Noir Markers HERE.

Still not ready to try it????  I have a solution....don't color them!!!

Thanks right, I said DON'T color the image.  The Thomas Kinkade Stamps are so detailed that they look fabulous even when not colored.

I have a few tips for you when using the Thomas Kinkade images so that you will get the best results.  I have found that I get the best results with Versafine or Memento ink by Tsukineko.
I use Neenah, Mohawk, or other smooth white paper.

For best inking results I use a brayer to roll the ink on evenly.

After inking up the stamp I lay the paper on top of the image and rub across the paper surface.

Carefully lift the paper and allow the image to dry.

Here's the card I made with The Night Before Christmas and Versafine Deep Lagoon ink.

I made this one with Skater's Pond and Versafine Sepia ink.

I made this one with It Doesn't Get Much Better and Versafine Olympia Green ink.

And here's my final card using Foxglove Cottage and Versafine Smokey Gray ink.

I hope these examples have shown you some of the possibilities with these stamps.
I love mine and I think you'll love them too!
