Hi, I’m Sharon. I am married to my best friend and crafting enabler. I live just outside a small farming town in Michigan and I have been a stay at home mom since moving here from the UK 3 and ½ years ago. My passion is card making (and hoarding craft supplies). I love nothing better spending my days in my craft room with my 3 fur babies curled up at my feet, my music blasting and some kind of craft tool in my hand whether it’s a stamp, inkpad, pen, pencil, die or scissors it doesn’t matter to me. My crafting style is usually clean and simple although I do occasionally venture outside my comfort zone and try something different. Stamping and coloring are my favorite methods so being on the Riley and Company design team is my dream playtime (job J) I can almost color Riley in my sleep he is so engrained in my heart.
Today I am being featured on the Riley and Company Blog for their Designer Highlight post.
I love this company. Riley the Moose is adorable and the Funny Bones Stamps are just so amusing.
I love snark and a lot of the stamps
are just that - made to make you have a little snicker when you see them.
My project for today's post is also one of
my favorite things to make, my little collection of notelets in a purse.
They are so easy
to make. First you start with the following pieces of cards:
The patterned
card is best double sided to that the inside of your purse looks cute too.
I always start
with the base.
Score it all the
way around at 1/2 inch. Then cut the side tabs and add strong double sided
tape. You then fold up the edges to make a shallow box
There are 3 of
the trim, add the strong tape to all 3.
The first of
these goes along the top edge of the patterned card
Then turn this
over and add tape to the bottom edge, This is then adhered to the base. Be
careful not to fold the card as you take it around the base as you will loose
the purse look - it will look more like a box.
Once wrapped
around the box, tape up the back seam. Then add another of the taped trim
around the base of the bag to cover the lower edge.
Next comes the
handles
You need to
pierce the ends of the short strips of card and the bag as above. I then found
some cute silver button brads and fixed the handles in place with these - you
can see these in the finished purse. You can just glue the handles in place and
add pearls or gems to the purse if you don't have brads.
The third trim
strip goes in the inside to cover the edges of the handles and the backs of the
brads
I then decorated
the bag with the Bags and Shoes Funny Bones
sentiment and a shoe die cut.
Using the same
card, patterned card and Riley and company Funny Bones stamps I made 4 cards to
place inside the bag:
I used 8 Glasses of Water and Walmart stamps on 2 of them along with the wine glass and beer mug dies.
And the 2nd two
have Not Grey Hairs and WTF Lines along with some nice glittering hair and some very WTF die
cut DEEP wrinkles.
Thank you for stopping by and helping me
share my project today. If you love what you see I would appreciate you letting
me know in the comments below.
Here are a few of my favorite past projects:
